Due to construction work on the Cadillac Building at the corner of Bishop and South Allegheny Street, South Allegheny Street, between Logan and Bishop, will be temporarily changed to one way travel northbound. Parking will be available on the east side of the block. This change will be in effect through early 2016.

With homeowners and businesses tackling spring and summer projects, the company reminds its Pennsylvania utility customers to always dial 8-1-1 before digging to avoid hitting underground electrical cables and other utility installations.
Homeowners and contractors should contact 8-1-1 three days before beginning a job to be connected to the Pennsylvania One Call Center, which then will notify the appropriate FirstEnergy utility company and other utilities about the work being planned. See the news release below.

Recently the Borough revised its door-to-door sales ordinance. One change is § 410-22. List of homes not wishing to be solicited. There is now a “Do Not Disturb” opt-out form for Borough residents that can be completed and submitted by those residents who do not want door-to-door sales people. This form can be found on our website under “Residents” “Permits and Forms”. Simply complete all the required fields and submit. Your address only will be placed on a “Do Not Disturb” list that will be provided to anyone who obtains a solicitor’s permit.

Bellefonte’s Big Spring water was named “Pennsylvania’s Best Tasting Water” at the Pennsylvania Rural Water Association Conference.
The Bellefonte Borough Police Department collects unused, unwanted or expired medication in order to keep these items out of the hands of children and other individuals who should not have access to these medications, as well as keeping them out of the environment. There is no need to remove the labels or take the items out of the packaging, as the entire item will be destroyed.
Liquids and over-the-counter medications are also accepted. If you bring in liquids, please see the Office Assistant, as these are placed in a separate container to avoid spills.
Drop off hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Bellefonte Police Department, 236 W Lamb St, Bellefonte.
The Centre County Recycling & Refuse Authority will now accept post consumer vinyl siding at the Dale Summit Transfer Station at a discounted rate of $20 per ton.
To qualify for this reduced rate, the acceptable load should include only the following: vinyl siding, corner posts, J-channel.
Unacceptable load items include the following: no vinyl shutters; no vinyl with insulation attached, no organics to include paper, wood, plastic, metal or glass. Loads containing these items will be charged the normal MSW tipping fee of $67 per ton.
Please let the Scale Operator know if you have an acceptable load of vinyl that would qualify for the reduced rate.
