Bellefonte Borough is seeking applicants for the following:
Public Works Department – REFUSE – The Borough of Bellefonte is interested in hiring a full-time Loader-Operator Specialist for the Public Works/Refuse Department. The position requires the employee to perform various tasks related to the collection of refuse and in the maintenance of the Borough’s refuse vehicles and equipment. The objective is to perform the Borough’s refuse collection in an efficient and timely manner and ensuring safe work practices are at the forefront of the employee daily activities.
Minimum qualifications include High school diploma or the equivalent; Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (or obtain the CDL w/in six (6) months of being hired) Priority will be given to those that currently have a CDL.
More than one individual may be hired off of this posting.
Parking Enforcement/Animal Control Officer – The Borough is seeking to fill a part-time position working approximately 20-25 hours per week. Hours may be very flexible. The assignment includes conducting parking ordinance enforcement and animal control. Patrols the metered areas of the borough, identifies vehicles parked illegally, and issues parking violation notices; Operates a vehicle, two-way radio, handheld computer, and other miscellaneous tools; Maintains equipment and meters to meet normal operating standards;’ Acts as an observer on behalf of the Borough of Bellefonte and reports traffic accidents, abandoned vehicles, missing/vandalized signage, miscellaneous municipal code violations, and traffic hazards encountered in the course of work; Enforces State and Borough ordinances dealing with the care, treatment, licensing, and impounding of animals in the Borough; picks up sick, injured, stray, vicious or unwanted animals; makes humane investigations, issues citations, and keep records and prepares reports which may be used in legal proceedings.
